The Marrakech Restaurant is located in Wymondham in Norfolk. Sharing the exotic taste of Moroccan delicacies. Giving your taste-buds the authentic taste of North African food.
Welcome to Marrakech Restaurant. This is a family run restaurant opened in February 2013 by Mohammed Ali the former owner of Casablanca restaurant, Ali was the first chef with the help of partner Faycal to introduce Moroccan cuisine to this region in 1996 coincidentally In Wymondham town not far from where the present restaurant is located now , he then opened a sister restaurant in Norwich in 2001, but in 2007 due to various circumstances both restaurant were sold to new owners who changed the theme of the cuisine.
Ali came in 1990 to Norwich to attend the hotel school in Norwich City college where he studied hotel and catering management and after working in various restaurants and hotels, Ali went his own way to bring a taste of Moroccan culture to Norfolk, inspired by his mother who used to cater for weddings and family events Ali preserved most of her recipes to create a mouth watering menu to cater for everyone's taste. The flavours are from mild and fruity to hot and spicy if you like a bit of a kick “ our dishes are traditional and authentic and our meat is marinated for many hours, we use home preserved lemons, olives and home made harrissa accompanied by the home made flat bread and hummus
We are open Tuesday to Saturday lunch and dinner. We have a special lunch menu where you can sample some of our tasty meze (tapas style) this is the best way to try different dishes or if you fancy just a light snack, the Moroccan toasted sandwich with salad would be perfect.
There is a great selection of Moroccan wine to complement your meal as well as some exotic non alcohol house cocktails.
I arrived in Norfolk in 1990, attended Norwich City College catering and management course.
We cater for business parties, private parties up to 50 people and children are very welcome smaller portions for both children and the elderly Can be provided”. Our aim is for you to have the best experience, weather you have tried Moroccan food before or not we will make sure you have the dish to suit your palate.
After working in various different establishments I opened my first restaurant in 1996 in Wymondham, I feel proud of introducing a bit of my culture and taste of my home country and sharing this whole experience with the local people.
Moroccan cuisine is one of the best cuisine in the world, it is healthy, colourful and tasty, full of delicate flavours.

Really lovely food frequently visit when staying in the hotel, good staff good good and well worth a visit!!Jamie H
I’m writing this in their comfy little lounge, with a carafe of excellent value house white and a view of the market town’s passers-by. Bliss.
Marrakesh does several jobs. In the morning, it’s full of ladies having proper coffee. By lunchtime, folks are having snacks and tapas. This is the only food I’ve tried here – simple, nicely presented but includes some frozen stuff – who can always do fresh seafood in Wymondham, after all? I find afternoons quiet, good for using their free wifi with a glass of vino.
Evenings are a proper Moroccan experience, it seems. The menu looks great but I haven’t tried it yet but hope to soon.
I don’t think most people would put the Marrakesh on top of their list of places to relax. But they should!

Enjoyed this restaurant. Small but with an attractive atmosphere and very helpful owner. Moved the table for us so we could be closer to the window. The food was delicious served under really pretty tagines. Not likely to come again soon as we live in Devon but would recommend it to other visitors. We paid £50 for two courses and drinks.JillandPeterG
The fact that this great intimate restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night says it all. Friendly staff, charming Moroccan decor and lovely food. Tasty Tagines amazing cheesecake finished with the typical peppermint tea in the Ali baba style teapot. Just as good as when we were in Marrakesh last year!Karen M
In the heart of Wymondham, Norfolk, this Morrocan restaurant provides just the right ambience for an authentic North African dining experience. The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food is prepared and cooked by the Morrocan owner. The taste of Morrocco is captured in the tenderness of the meat, fruit and spiced sauces and the delictae couscous. Excellent Tagines, soups and Morrocan salads are on the menu. You won’t be disappointed
This won’t break the bank either. For 3 of us with all courses, including drinks and coffees it came to just over £90/-. We’ll be going there again. (There’s ample parking just down from the restaurant)
